411 Seniors Radio Show
The 411 Seniors Centre has a team of volunteers who create a ½ hour radio show for seniors each week called the 411 Seniors Radio Show. This program is aired on Vancouver’s Co-op Radio (102.7 FM) every Thursday at 2:00 pm. The 411 Seniors Radio Show airs items of interest to all seniors in our community.
A typical 411 Seniors Radio Show program consists of a welcome and introduction to the show, an interview with a guest, music and 411 Seniors Centre and community news.
Interviews
Interviews are typically with guests who have a topic or story to share that would be of interest to seniors and to the wider community. Past programs have included: Val McLean from the Better Business Bureau who has appeared regularly and who keeps us up-to-date on current scams; Leila Jensen, whose work in the area of Falls Prevention is of interest to all; Mary Martin Sharma discussing the ABC’s of Fraud; and Paddy Wing with his magic guitar has entertained our audiences frequently. Many other guests have joined us in discussing a wide variety of subjects, including: Alzheimer’s Disease, Stroke Recovery, Therapeutic Touch, memories from the early days in Vancouver, stories about the theatrical history of Vancouver, and many others.
