In House Counsellors

The 411 Seniors Centre provides a vital link between seniors and the services and benefits to which they are eligible.   The goal of the Information & Referral (I&R) Department is to assist seniors in finding and accessing the assistance they need to fully participate in society by providing information, assisting with the completion of forms and applications, and making referrals.  

Information is available on BC Medical Plan, Long-term care, Pharmacare, dental care, Guaranteed Income Supplement, Old Age Pension, Canada Pension Plan, GAIN, SAFER, subsidized and temporary housing, bus passes, consumer protection, legal referrals, simple will preparation, other seniors centres, grocery shopping services, tenants’ rights and senior peer counselling programs.

Although counsellors are trained volunteers who speak English, service is available in a variety of languages.   For service in a language other than English, please call ahead to ensure availability.   You can also bring a friend who can help you if you cannot speak English.   Hours of operation are 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.   The I&R department operates on a first-come, first-served basis.   No appointment is necessary.
